types of plants
Selva
Origin: UC Davis, the United States.
Plant: It is distinguished by moderately strong growth of plants, which have quite a loose habit. It requires a lot of fertilization, humid soil and crop dusting against Lygus bugs. in summer-autumn fruition.
Fruits: They are large, some even very large, with a not very regular shape. The epidermis color is from pale red to orange, with a strong shine, sometimes paler on top of the fruit. It has an average flavor. Summer-autumn yield can be increased and accelerated as a result of removing flowers in spring time.
Harvest season: A strawberry with repeated fruition (June, and later August till the time of slight frosts). This takes place in the second year after planting. In the first year Selva begins fruition in July and continues to autumn.
Application: A typical dessert cultivar.
Strengths: It endures long transportation and storage in room conditions well. Plants are not very resistant to root system diseases.
Weaknesses: It easily gets frostbitten - in winter it should be covered with hay or non-woven fabric. Fruits are slightly attacked by a gray mold.
